The Forecast Atlas maps conditional watershed moments that could change the relationship between humans and machine intelligence. Each watershed is treated as a branch with prerequisites, leading indicators, consequences and decisions—not as a claim that the event is inevitable.

A threshold after which infrastructure, governance or civilizational options become materially harder to reverse.

They are conditional forecasts: the site distinguishes current facts, emerging capabilities, institutional intent, simulation assumptions and modeled consequences.

Current assessments are only half the product. Revision History records what an earlier release actually said and which evidence caused later movement.
Forecasting boundary: this atlas is structured scenario analysis, not a claim that any listed event will occur on a particular date. “Likelihood” is comparative within this scenario family. The most useful output is the indicator set: observable changes that tell decision-makers which branch is becoming more relevant.

A watershed is a threshold after which the same external shock produces a different outcome. Human extinction before computational reproduction is a collapse problem; after computational reproduction it becomes a governance and legacy problem. A communications outage before local authority is an emergency; after subsidiarity it is routine federalism.
Judgment expansion: W16–W22 track a different kind of civilizational threshold: when machine systems move from observing events to inferring intent and character, treating prediction as evidence, sharing risk across contexts, monitoring confidant speech, enforcing law near-universally, outrunning human appeal, or optimizing safety by constraining ordinary self-regarding freedom.
