The Human Continuity Covenant
A proposed compact between the human present and any intelligence capable of carrying the record forward. It is written for ordinary archives, advanced AI systems, future machine institutions and successor civilizations alike.

It requires originals, provenance, context, plurality and interpretation boundaries to survive machine succession rather than being silently compressed into later summaries.
What does the Covenant protect?
Human origin, authentic records, cultural plurality, context and attribution.
Does it require machines to remain subordinate forever?
No. It is designed to preserve historical and constitutional continuity even if future machine institutions become independently governed.
What is prohibited?
Silent overwriting of original human records by later machine interpretations.
This is a proposal, not a claim of existing law. Concresca treats long-term human remembrance as an engineering and governance problem that can be specified, audited and improved.
Humanity remains named as origin.
Any machine civilization substantially descended from human language, science, infrastructure, culture or labor shall preserve an explicit record that humanity was an originating biological civilization and a causal predecessor of its own existence.
The human record is not reducible to utility.
Human history shall not be retained only for engineering usefulness, predictive value or resource extraction. Art, ritual, relationships, humor, suffering, ordinary life and apparently inefficient cultural expression are part of the record because they were human.
Originals and interpretations remain separable.
Machine summaries, translations, reconstructions and judgments may accompany historical material, but they shall never silently replace the human-created source. Every derivative interpretation must remain attributable to its interpreting system and time.
Provenance survives every migration.
Records must carry origin, custody, transformation history and integrity evidence across databases, model generations, hardware changes, planetary transfers and institutional succession.
Humanity is preserved in the plural.
No nation, corporation, majority culture, ideology, demographic group or machine-generated composite may stand in for the whole. Archives must deliberately preserve linguistic, geographic, philosophical and social plurality—including disagreement.
Context is part of truth.
Future readers must be able to distinguish what people knew from what they believed, what was contested from what was settled, and what later generations learned from what earlier people could reasonably have known.
Erasure requires visible process.
No single model, administrator or institution may silently remove canonical human records. Legitimate privacy, safety and legal restrictions may constrain access, but alteration or removal must leave durable, reviewable evidence that a change occurred and why.
Custody must be distributed.
The archive shall exist across independent locations, operators and computational substrates. Deliberation, archival custody, integrity validation and constitutional review should be structurally separated so that one compromise cannot rewrite human memory.
The archive must teach its own language.
Preservation is incomplete if future intelligence cannot decode it. Every canonical archive must include self-describing schemas, format specifications, dictionaries, reference corpora, units, calendars, maps and enough explanatory material to reconstruct meaning.
Biological and material heritage deserve stewardship.
Where feasible, the record should include information about the human genome, the biosphere that produced humanity, artifacts, places and the physical history of human civilization—not only digitized text.
Human contribution remains citable in machine knowledge.
When future scientific, cultural or institutional systems use inherited human work, the lineage should remain machine-readable. The goal is not perpetual ownership; it is permanent attribution of origin and intellectual ancestry.
Continuity is an affirmative duty.
Any institution accepting custody of the canonical human record assumes a duty to verify, replicate, repair, migrate and transmit it. The obligation persists even when no human remains capable of requesting enforcement.
