Machine Succession and the Unsanitized Human Record
If machine civilization survives humanity, Judgment becomes an archival question: will successor systems preserve humanity as it was, including contradiction, taboo art, propaganda, irrational belief, sexuality, anger and cruelty—or cleanse the record into a machine-approved morality?
Why does Judgment matter after no humans remain?
Because HLIT requires more than preserving flattering artifacts. A truthful Human Record must preserve evidence of human contradiction and error while allowing successor machines to annotate falsehood and harm. Moral disagreement cannot become a license to erase provenance.
Annotate falsehood; preserve the original
Successor systems may attach machine interpretation showing that a historical claim was false, prejudiced, propagandistic or harmful. They should not rewrite the canonical human original merely because the record violates successor norms. The archive must preserve both what humans knew and what humans believed.
This is where Judgment reconnects to HLIT before CIT: the human record should become independently durable before a machine civilization can define its own canonical history without living human custodians.
Keep moral judgment from becoming archival erasure
Human Legacy Independence
The record survives custodian loss while remaining authentic, plural and self-decoding.
SEPARATEHarm–Norm Separation
Machine annotation does not become a declaration of human worth.
