Purpose-Bound Computation

A design and governance framework preventing data collected for one purpose from silently becoming authorized for unrelated machine judgment.

Technical design proposal / research synthesisFact / proposal boundaries enforcedv0.14.0
Answer first

What is purpose-bound computation?

It is the proposal that data and models remain tied to an authorized purpose unless fresh authority permits a materially different use. A fraud detector does not automatically become a moral-character engine; age verification does not automatically become sexual-interest profiling.

Legal anchor

Purpose limitation already exists as a data-protection concept

GDPR establishes purpose limitation and data-minimization principles for covered personal-data processing. Concresca extends the architectural question into inference, cross-context reuse and response authority rather than claiming its broader proposal is current law everywhere.

Technical controls

Tags cannot substitute for institutions

Purpose tags, access control, separate stores, confidential computing and query auditing may enforce parts of the boundary. Organizational incentives, emergency exceptions and copied data can still defeat purely technical controls.
