Constitutional Model Change Control

A version-control framework preventing model, prompt, threshold, retrieval or policy changes from silently changing constitutional behavior after approval.

Answer first

Why do model updates require constitutional change control?

Because a high-impact system can be lawful or rights-preserving under one configuration and materially different after an update. Approval must attach to an inspectable system version, not an abstract product name.

Change record

Material change should be explicit

Record old/new version, behavioral difference, affected rights, tests, approval, deployment time and rollback capability. Material updates should trigger renewed assurance proportional to risk.

Failure mode

Silent drift converts certification into theater

If a vendor can replace the model or change thresholds without a new review, an institution may continue citing an approval that no longer describes the deployed decision process.
